is it insulting to say that i don’t consider Lieumon. cannon or possibly cannon because amon simply never seemed to want any romance, and used the first idiot he could find and twisted his pyche until he was to weak to see how twisted the revolution was. I don’t hate Lieutenant or Amon,but i don’t think Lieumon happened the way any of the Leiumon head cannons assume it to be. Amon took advantage of how how weak and ready to idol worship Lieutenant. The one think i do believe of Lieutenant was that he was a firebender when he met Amon, and through in his idoletry willingly gave up his firebending to become second in command, and that act wiped all insecurites and doubts about the revolution making him believe that there wasn’t a place for benders anymore. Amon was first and foremost a figure an icon, a god, taking away bending permanently solidified Lieutenant’s heroworship of Amon. Living like that and wtnessing firsthand how absolute Amons power was i do not question Lieutenant’s moves, until Korra throws a wrench in thier plans, and Korra tells Lieutenant not to count them out, that i think Lieutenant begins questioning and changing gradually, but not until Amon is acused of being a bender, the enemy of thier movement, does it hit home to him. Bending had a place in the world, the cause that he probably gave up all his money, family, frienships, was a scam a lie, i don’t put it past him to confront Amon the way he did. As for Amon, he lost the one piece he was sure he had complete control over. Amon may have been the head of the revolution but being the King he rarely fought or carry out tasks the way the normal Equalists did, Amon had Lieutenant to teach and do his dirty work, and i believe the equalists responded more directly to Lieutenant than Amon. Losing contol of the leader of your army, that hits Amon when he realizes that Lieutenant has found him out. Thats why he turns against him, because he’s all alone now. Overthrown and on the run. While i’ve appreciated the Leiumon fans, i don’t think you guys know, or have been in the situation where you know you will blindly follow a god, until it shatters in front of you, and the romantization Lieumon has, kinda scares me. when you hols someone high above you, you do not wish to tarnish them, not with romance, barely with friendship. So while you may claim Lieumon is subtextly canon, i shall sit here and deny it.
